Registration for the Power Cup, the children’s and youth volleyball event, ended on Monday 31 March. From 5 to 8 June, the Loimaa Sports Centre will be filled with 810 teams for thousands of matches in the four-day volleyball festival. The last time the event hosted more than 800 teams was in Kuopio in 2018. There will also be 63 teams from abroad, including Estonia, Latvia and Norway.
“This number of teams met all expectations and our whole team is extremely pleased with the interest the Power Cup has once again attracted in Finland and abroad. The final number of players is still growing, as registration for the summer camp was extended into April. I’m looking forward to seeing all the happy and joyful youngsters enjoying the best start to the summer. Just a couple of months to go,” says Anna Komu, Event Manager of the Power Cup.
“The whole Loimaa welcomes you to the most exciting volleyball event of the summer. Preparations are in full swing here and every part of the event is progressing nicely.
Volleyball in Loimaa is having a strong season. There are several teams in the Janko junior league and the finals are approaching. The league team of Hurrikaan has already made it to the semi-finals. So the atmosphere in Loimaa is high – and soon you will make it even more special,” says local manager Katariina Kojo.
The summer camp is for children and youths aged 7- to 15-year-olds who have no previous experience of volleyball or who have tried the sport before. The camp will include coaching and all the other activities that go with the event. You don’t need a team to take part.
Welcome to an exciting and joyful event Power Cup
The Power Cup is an open event, which means that everyone is welcome to visit the event. The opening ceremony will kick off the four-day event on Thursday 5 June. The opening artist will also be announced soon. Youths have been asked to suggest an artist on the Power Cup’s social media channels.
The Power Market will be open every day in the event area with a wide range of activities for players and visitors. There will be playful competitions on and near the event stage, right in the heart of the event at the Loimaa Sports Centre. Alongside volleyball, there will also be a wide range of other activities organised by partners. There is no better way to spend the bright and sunny days of early June.
