The summer 2024 Power Cup concluded in Joensuu under the shining sun, despite a few rain showers throughout the long weekend. At the same time, the keys to next year’s event were handed over to the new organizers. After two years in Eastern Finland, the Power Cup will move to Southwest Finland, in Loimaa! Joensuu’s local manager Sami Leinonen handed the key bundle to Katariina Kojo, the local manager for Power Cup Loimaa.
Next year’s organizers praised the event arrangements in Joensuu as well as the local people. “Joensuu has set high standards for us next year, as the arrangements were excellent, and we can only hope for sunny weather in Loimaa. The entire town is already interested in the event, even though there is still a year to go.”
The Power Cup in Loimaa will be held right in the center of Loimaa, with excellent transportation connections. The playing area will be even more unified than this year, and the accessibility of shops and other services will be excellent. The train station is just a stone’s throw away from the playing area. What more could a Power Cup participant wish for? Next year’s organization will be handled by two traditional volleyball clubs together. Hurrikaani Loimaa and Loimaan Jankko will manage the arrangements jointly, and the entire town of Loimaa will be strongly involved in organizing the Power Cup.
In keeping with tradition, each year’s host adds their own memory from the city to the key bundle. This year, Leinonen added a newt figure, which aptly represents the city of Joensuu and the entire region of North Karelia, where everyone and every sport gets a chance to thrive. With his addition to the key bundle, Leinonen passed the organizational responsibility to Loimaa and wished the best of luck to next year’s organizers.
