Registration for the world’s largest children’s and youth volleyball tournament, the Power Cup, has already surpassed 670 teams, set to compete in Joensuu from June 6th to 9th. Once again, the registration has drawn keen interest from enthusiastic volleyball players both locally and internationally. In addition to teams from Finland, participants from Estonia, Hungary, Romania, Latvia, and potentially more countries will join the tournament.

“We’ve experienced a surge in registrations, surpassing last year’s numbers at this point, which is fantastic to see. The growing interest from international teams underscores the appeal of our tournament for young volleyball players worldwide. We’re eagerly anticipating a spectacular start to the summer and witnessing the joy on the faces of our youth,” exclaimed Anna Komu, the event director of Power Cup.

“As the local organizer, we’re thrilled by the early registration numbers. Preparations for the Power Cup are proceeding smoothly and as planned. With ample facilities in Joensuu, we’re well-equipped to accommodate a large number of participants. We eagerly anticipate seeing how many teams will join us by the close of registration. We extend a warm welcome to everyone to join us in Joensuu, in the eastern part of Finland,” added Sami Leinonen, the local manager of Power Cup.

Registration for Power Cup 2024 closes on April 15th, after which the final number of participating teams will be determined.

Exciting moments await as Power Cup transforms Mehtimäki in Joensuu into a vibrant hub of volleyball action. Alongside the matches, a diverse lineup of activities and partner enterprises will be on offer. The Power Market will feature various attractions for participants and visitors daily, with playful competitions taking place on the Anyday Nuts stage at the heart of the event area. The much-anticipated Power Cup Disco will be held as usual on Saturday night.

Situated near Joensuu’s city center, the central location of the event area is expected to draw both locals and tourists alike. Entry to the area is free, inviting everyone to enjoy the games, explore the Power Market, and savor the performance at the opening ceremony, featuring an artist to be announced later.

“I hope to see as many people as possible join us for the excitement of Power Cup, reveling in the thrill of volleyball and the lively atmosphere of the event. This unforgettable kickoff to summer offers much more than just sports; it’s an experience you can only truly appreciate in person,” emphasized Komu.
