The world’s largest youth volleyball tournament heads to Finland’s capital – with a clear focus on international growth and exceptional event experience

The Finnish Volleyball Federation is proud to announce that Power Cup will take its next major steps in Helsinki. The tournament will be held in the capital city for two consecutive years, in 2026 and 2027 – a decision that supports strategic growth, internationality and high-quality event development.

“Helsinki gives us a unique opportunity to elevate Power Cup on multiple levels. This is not just about a location – this is a strategic leap toward our vision of becoming Europe’s most recognised youth volleyball festival,” says Riia Martinoja, Director of Events, Marketing , Sales at the Finnish Volleyball Federation.

Power Cup will take place in Helsinki on 11–14 June 2026 and again on 17–20 June 2027. Each year, the event gathers over 8,000 young athletes, coaches, families, and volunteers – filling the host city with energy, joy, and a powerful sense of community, the very essence of Power Cup.

“The Helsinki metropolitan area offers participants a truly unique setting. Outstanding transport connections and city services will support a seamless experience – but more than that, this is an opportunity to bring volleyball into the heart of urban life,” says Anna Komu, Power Cup Event Director.

Committing to two consecutive years in Helsinki allows for long-term planning and meaningful development: improving the participant experience, refining the event model, and strengthening strategic partnerships. At the same time, the aim is to significantly increase the number of international teams – outreach is already underway in Sweden, Estonia, Central Europe, and even further afield in the US and Japan.

“Volleyball is a major global sport. The Power Cup is the largest showcase of Finnish junior volleyball, and we want to offer Finnish players and coaches opportunities for international encounters,” Martinoja emphasizes. “As part of our ongoing development work, we will renew the participant packages and introduce a range of accommodation options. The event production model will also undergo changes

“Power Cup is much more than just a tournament – it’s a communal experience that leaves a lasting impact on both the participants and the host city. It offers young people role models, unforgettable memories, and the opportunity to grow and enjoy the sport of volleyball,” says Tarja Loikkanen, Head of Sports Services for the City of Helsinki. “We are very happy to host this event in Helsinki for the next two years.”

“The collaboration with the City of Helsinki during the planning phase has been truly meaningful and valuable for us. We are ready to make Helsinki the capital of junior volleyball for two unforgettable summers,” Komu concludes.
